Sea Museum In this museum, the visitor can find miniature of the most famous historical ships and vessels, which were built in the local shipyards; but also ancient Roman ships, nautical charts and one room is dedicated to the "Elettra", the ship from which the first radio message was sent by Guglielmo Marconi. Just in front of this building there is the railway museum (a former railway station) where locomotives and old wagons are kept.

War Museum Diego de Henriquez This museum contains war remains up the early 1970s. These relics (tankers, uniforms, guns, bombs, helmets, documents) were collected by this gentleman who devoted his life and wealth to search and keep them. In this way he wanted to prove the insanity of wars.
Risiera di San Sabba This group of buildings was used for husking of rice from 1913 to 1943, when the occupying Nazi army turned it into a concentration camp. In 1965 it was given the status of national monument with an annexed museum.
Museum of Historical Memories (Risorgimento) This museum is dedicated to Guglielmo Oberdan. He was born in Trieste (in 19th century) when the town was under Austrian rule but he considered himself Italian and so he started his fight against the Austrians. After the Triple Alliance treaty, signed by Italy, Austria and Germany, the irredentist tried to kill the Austrian emperor, but he was caught and sent to death.
Museum of History of Art (5) The visitor can find Roman, Greek remains, Egyphtian sarcophagi and many archeological findings of early settlements in the surrounding areas. It is located near the S.Giusto Cathedral. In the garden there are a lot of inscribed stones, Roman columns and the carved funerary monument of Giovanni Winckelmann (see our Web page referring to Tourist Attractions).
Palazzo Revoltella and Modern Art Gallery (12) This is a museum for modern and contemporary art and is located in two 19th century joined palaces where Pasquale Revoltella lived. This gentleman was a very powerful and wealthy entrepreneur and one of the constructors of the Suez ship canal. After his death he left the rich art collections and masterpieces to the local town's administration. Nowadays many new paintings and contemporary art masterpieces have been added and various art exhibitions are organised there.
